Dear Parent or Guardian,

Thank you for applying for The Fishing School’s FREE Afterschool Program for the 2017-2018 school year! TFS has had over 27 years of experience working with youth and families.

Specifically designed to improve students’ academic performance and life skills, our after school program runs Monday through Friday from 3:15 to 6:00pm and includes the following:

  • Free daily supper
  • Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) Projects
  • Life Skills lessons
  • College readiness/HBCU lessons
  • Online math and reading tutorials
  • Clubs
  • Homework help

As part of The Fishing School community, parents will have access to:

  • A full time Program Manager who oversees programming
  • A dedicated Parent Engagement Associate who will work one on one with parents to support their child’s academic success and address parent concerns
  • TFS’ Parent Advisory Council (PAC)
  • Parent centered workshops and activities (i.e. parent mixers, career training, etc)
  • Family engagement events such as Literacy Night, Math & Science Night, Family Game Night and more!

During the 2014-2015 academic school year, 55% of Fishing School students improved their reading grades in school while 47% of students improved their math grades. In addition, 100% of parents reported feeling that their child was safe and that they felt welcomed and respected by the program.

Please note: Registration must be complete in order to reserve your spot. Separate registration forms are needed for each child. Please contact me with any questions!
