Tom Lewis Youth Activity Facilitator
The Fishing School is excited to announce the launch of the Tom Lewis Youth Activity Facilitator position, which was named in honor and celebration of our late founder, Mr. Tom Lewis.
We seek change-makers committed to youth and community development. Selected candidates will implement our research-based STEM, LifeSkills, and Arts curriculum to help increase participants’ academic preparation, build critical thinking, creativity, and strong interpersonal skills. Above all, our program team is full of heart and fun!
Youth Activity Facilitators receive additional training throughout the year to be fully prepared to deliver our content and establish a youth development approach to setting classroom culture. Part of our continuous improvement approach includes regular observations and coaching.

Vaccination Policy
The Fishing School follows all relevant guidance from the National Center for Disease Control, the DC Department of Health, DC Public Schools, and the Deputy Mayor for Education regarding health and safety protocols during the pandemic. As a result, our office-based staff operates semi-remotely, following TFS safety procedures when required to visit the office. Our school-based program staff is expected to attend programming in person and follow all guidance regarding student safety. Beginning Monday, November 1st, 2021, all current TFS employees must submit proof of vaccination. Testing out is no longer an option. However, an exemption can be requested for religious or medical reasons.
